Empty chemical drums must be disposed of in accordance with UK environmental legislation, typically through licensed waste carriers or drum reconditioning services that comply with the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
An IBC, or Intermediate Bulk Container, is used for storing and transporting larger volumes (typically 1000 litres) of liquids or powders, making it more cost-effective than drums when dealing with high-volume, bulk applications.
Drums must be clearly labelled with the correct hazard symbols, UN numbers, and handling instructions under the UK’s implementation of the CLP Regulation (Classification, Labelling and Packaging) and the ADR framework for transport.
