At Lifting Equipment Store, we offer a range of Green Pin® lifting shackles, including bow, dee and more specialist types. Our range of dee and bow shackles are Dutch manufactured to the highest standards, and we can provide specific designs bespoke to your application.
Our premium range of shackles for lifting is built to deliver dependable strength and secure connections in even the most demanding industrial environments. Whether you're working in construction, marine, towing or industrial rigging, choosing the right shackle is essential for safety and efficiency.
Having an extensive network of partners gives us access to the highest quality selection of lifting equipment on the market, available in a multitude of sizes, finishes and load ratings. Each of our shackles is engineered for performance, safety-tested and built to comply with industry standards.
Lifting shackles act as a load-bearing link between your equipment and cargo, attaching lifting devices to loads to make lifting operations easier. Shackles play a crucial role in various rigging and lifting jobs, providing the strength and versatility needed for everyday hoisting to high-stakes industrial lifts.
We offer shackles suitable for:
Construction sites
Marine and offshore operations
Heavy towing applications
Warehousing and logistics
Cranes and lifting rigs
From hot-dip galvanised shackles for corrosion resistance to colour-coded variants for easy identification, our collection is tailored to meet your job’s exact demands.
Our range of shackles for lifting is built to support a range of industrial applications, from construction and marine to offshore and heavy-duty rigging.
Bow shackles have a rounded U-shaped body, with a shape that allows for greater surface area and the ability to handle loads from various angles. This rounded shape means they can accommodate wider straps and chains.
Discover our range of bow shackles, available to lift capacities from 0.45 tonnes up to 9.5 tonnes.
Dee shackles, or ‘D’ shackles, are designed with strength and durability, offering secure lifting at the core. They’re commonly used for straight, in-line lifting and connecting applications with vertical loads. They’re used in various applications, including construction, marine and industrial jobs for connecting chains, slings and wire ropes.
For more bespoke applications, our specialist shackles cover an array of jobs beyond the standard lifting, rigging or towing. Our range of specialist lifting shackles includes:
· Wide-body shackles for more evenly distributed loads
· ROV shackles designed for underwater lifting
· Web- sling shackles for wider, flat bearing surfaces
· Corrosion-resistant shackles for marine or outdoor applications
Before each use, make sure the shackle is inspected for signs of wear, corrosion and cracks and ensure your team wear suitable personal protective equipment (PPE) when using shackles for lifting. Here are some key steps and precautions to use shackles safely:
· Connect the shackle to the load or lifting device, ensuring the pin is fully screwed in and tightened
· Align the shackle so the load is centred on the shackle’s centreline
· Make sure the pin is securely fastened to prevent loosening under load
· Gradually apply the load, avoiding sudden jerking or shock loading which can exceed the lifting shackle’s capacity
All shackles include a clearly marked working load limit (WLL). This is the maximum load that the lifting shackle can safely bear during use. Exceeding the WLL during shackle lifting can result in equipment failure, injury or costly downtime.
Before purchase:
Confirm your load requirements
Ensure compatibility with slings, chains, or wire rope
Verify that all shackles meet international safety certifications (ISO, ASME, etc.)
We stock shackles with a wide range of WLLs, so you can lift with confidence.
Proper maintenance should be regularly conducted to ensure the lifting shackle is in the best condition to ensure smooth lifting operations. This can be as simple as keeping shackles organised and stored correctly to prevent damage and rust.
Extend the life of your lifting shackles with a few simple care tips:
Inspect regularly for signs of wear, corrosion, or distortion
Clean and lubricate threads and pins
Store properly in a dry, designated area
Avoid misusing shackles by matching them to correct load directions and capacities
Proper maintenance not only reduces costs but also improves overall safety across your operations. On top of this, make sure the shackle you’re using is best suited to the job in hand, as exceeding the maximum load can damage your equipment.

A bow shackle, or anchor shackle, has a larger, rounded "O" shape, which allows it to handle loads from multiple directions without bending. A D (Dee) shackle has a narrower "D" shape, making it better suited for straight-line pulls. Choosing between the two depends on the type and direction of the load.
The size is determined by the Working Load Limit (WLL) required for your lift. Consider the weight of the load, the angle of the lift, and any safety factors. Shackles are marked with their WLL and size (e.g., 3/4 inch, 4.75T). Always choose a shackle with a WLL greater than the expected load.
Absolutely Not! Shackles with any visible signs of wear, corrosion, stretching, or deformation should not be used. They may fail under load, leading to serious injury or equipment damage. Always inspect shackles before each use and remove damaged ones from service immediately.
