The William Hackett Marine Grade 8 Lifting Chain is produced through our trusted manufacturing partner, McKinnon Chain, based in South Africa. Each length of this Grade 8 marine chain is clearly stamped with the maker’s identification, the grade designation (OS8), and a premium batch-code system for full traceability. Every chain size in the William Hackett Marine Grade 8 range undergoes proof testing at 2.5 times its stated working load limit and is available in diameters from 7 mm to 32 mm. It can be safely used in temperatures from -50°C to 200°C with no loss of working load limit, with derating only required as temperatures approach 400°C.
Engineered for performance in the harshest marine and offshore environments, the William Hackett Marine Grade 8 chain features the advanced ZINC-TOUGH™ protective coating. It meets all EN818 material specifications, and its specialised heat-treatment process ensures the alloy steel maintains a maximum hardness of 38 HRC. This manufacturing approach enhances toughness and ductility under extreme conditions while offering improved resistance to hydrogen embrittlement and stress-related corrosion cracking.
