What is a straight line pull?
A straight line pull is the attachment from point A (Winch) to point B (Anchorage point) no twists, bends or angles at any point.
Configurations of your winch...
By ensuring there are no angles from connection point A to anchorage point B immensely reduces the strain and stress on the motor and
reduces the potential of uneven winding on the drum of the winch, you should always check throughout the pull that the cable remains straight.
A few examples below...
A pulley block can be added to your configuration to add the following benefits: increase load capacity, reduce stress and strain on winch and mechanisms!
A key point to remember when using a pulley block is that the block itself should be rated to a minimum of 2x the winch pull line rating.
From the winch to the first connection should always remain straight without any angles, twists or bends. 2nd line can have a slight angle (see fig. 1)
