Chain Hoists & Trolleys

WHAT IS A CHAIN HOIST?

Chain hoist is a term lifting equipment that is suspended (usually from a beam via a trolley) featuring a chain and hook. The hook is used to secure the object being lifted, while the chain is used to lift the hook and the attached load to the desired height. Manual Chain Hoists require the user to pull one end of the chain to lift the load, while electrical operated hoists require just a push of a button to control the motor. They can be suspended in a number of ways, with the majority coming with a hook or a trolley.

MANUAL HOISTS

Our Chain Blocks are manufactured to require as little manual effort as possible, preventing any unnecessary risk to a user's health and safety. Engineered to the highest standards, we take great pride in only supplying superior quality products. Our hand-operated chain blocks (hoists) can be suspended in a variety of ways, with our recommendation being a trolley suspension to run along a beam in your workplace. We offer beam trolleys in manual, electric, and pneumatic variations, with capacities of up to 20 Tonnes.

POWERED CHAIN HOISTS

We have a vast range of Electric Chain Hoists available, from leading manufacturers including Stahl, Yale, Demag, GIS, CM Lodestar, Kito, Hadef, LIftket, and Donati, with Safe Working Loads (SWL) of up to 20 Tonnes. Powered by a Single-Phase 110v/240v or Three-Phase 415v power supply, lifting heights of up to 120m are available. A number of additional features and low voltage controls come available as standard, meaning that our selection is sure to meet every requirement. These types of lifting hoists can be suspended via a top hook or lug, but we also have alternatives such as beam trolleys.

SPARE PARTS

Through intense use in demanding environments, over time, parts naturally become worn. To prevent our customers from needing to purchase a completely new item or the hassle of acquiring custom components, we can supply almost all spare parts for every hoist that we sell - saving you both time and money that your business can better spend elsewhere. We hold extensive stocks of components, ready for immediate dispatch, allowing you to maintain efficient production.

SPECIALIST REQUIREMENTS

Over the last 25 years, we have provided specialist items such as those conforming to specific standards, food grade, spark-resistant, and ATEX explosion-protected chain hoists. If you're looking for something in a more niche category, drop our Sales Team a call or send us an inquiry via our online form.

Chain Hoist & Trolley FAQs

Can electric chain hoists be used outdoors?

Yes, electric chain hoists can be used outdoors, but only if they are specifically rated for outdoor use, with appropriate IP protection against dust and moisture, and protected from adverse weather when not in use.

What is the difference between a hoist and a trolley?

A hoist is the lifting device that raises and lowers loads, while a trolley allows the hoist (and load) to travel horizontally along a beam.

Can a chain block be used at an angle?

No, chain blocks must only be used vertically, side pulling or lifting at an angle can cause damage and create a serious safety lift. If you need to use a chain block horizontally, commonly known as fleeting, we do have these available but only in selected ranges.

Can ratchet hoists be used for lifting people?

No, ratchet lever hoists are not designed or certified for lifting people and doing so would be a serious breach of safety regulations.

What is the difference between a push trolley and a geared trolley?

A push trolley is moved manually by pushing the load, while a geared trolley uses a hand chain to move the trolley more precisely along the beam.

Are beam clamps adjustable to fit different beam sizes?

Yes, most beam clamps are adjustable within a certain flange width range and must be securely tightened to ensure safe load handling.
